How to Run a Funding Round on POTLOCK
2025-03-04 · 4 min read

Funding rounds on POTLOCK are called “pots.” As an operator (chef), you create a pot, fund a matching pool, set the rules (e.g. quadratic funding or custom voting), and open it for projects to apply and for donors to contribute. Matching is distributed on-chain according to the mechanism you choose.
Steps to run a funding round
- Open the POTLOCK app at app.potlock.org and go to the pots section.
- Create a new pot: set the name, description, matching pool size, and mechanism (e.g. quadratic funding).
- Configure parameters: who can apply, who can donate, dates, and any identity or sybil-resistance requirements (e.g. Nada.bot).
- Fund the matching pool and open the pot for applications and donations.
- When the round ends, matching is calculated and distributed automatically according to the pot’s rules.
Who can run a round?
Anyone can create a pot on POTLOCK. Typical operators include ecosystem foundations, DAOs, and grant programs. You need to fund the matching pool and set clear rules. For detailed guides (planning a pot, chef training), see docs.potlock.org.
